| la mala (8b) | I have been aware of this route since the first time I visited Chulilla in 2015 and heard the stories of the good, the bad and the bad bad... Ask Pedro if you want to hear the story. La Buena (the good) was my first 8a, and I tried La Mala (the bad) back in 2018 but it just felt too difficult to start working on it. Back in December I finally got on it and had a completely different experience, quickly doing all the moves, but finally leaving the route for this trip. Getting on the route again earlier in the route, it felt quite improbable to put it all together with so many hard moves and not being able to enter the main crux with power to spare. A few days away, and I returned with colder temp and a better mindset og enjoying the climbing. On the first go I fell in the crux and climbed to the top and felt so much better. I sussed out the resting position and found a crucial but difficult kneescum, that enabled me to rest just before the crux. I still had to fight hard and dig deep in the resting positions - an ultimate fight and flow and I could clip the chain and finish this journey. |
