Anraku and Grossman win in SLC

Sorato Anruko, who won the overall World Cup in both Boulder and Lead in 2023, won in Salt Lake City with a dominant display in the final round. The 17-year-old pulled off three tops while runner-up Meichi Narasaki and third place, Jakob Schubert only topped one boulder each. "I’m very happy to have won gold in this beautiful place. I feel good about my climbing today, even though it was a very nerve-wracking competition. When I figured the moves out on the final boulder, I knew I had it, and it felt very good to top it.”

Natalia Grossman won her tenth World Cup gold by flashing three boulders. Oriane Bertone and Naile Meignan, also managed three tops, placing second and third respectively, but each required multiple tries.

Of her win Grossman said: “I always love the World Cup in Salt Lake City. The crowd hyped us up. I appreciate it a lot. It is very special to have my family here, being able to sleep in my own bed, eat my own food, it’s really nice. Hearing that there were a lot of tops motivated me, I knew it was possible, I knew I could do it, and I wasn’t sure what the result was. I thought I had to top the last one, I didn’t realise it for a second.” More info at IFSC.
