8c by Jen Vennon

Rock & Ice reports that Jen Vennon has done her first 8c, Stockboys Revenge in Rifle, Colorado. In the article, Jen describes the route in a detailed interview, and discusses her motivations, the terrible weather and skipping clips, causing a 20m fall. Vennon explains: "Stockboy’s climbs like a climb you’d only find in Rifle. In the crux I used an upside-down knee-bar to reach a hold and then turned the knee-bar around (literally placing my foot where my knee was and my knee where my foot was) to reach the next hold." Vennon is known for other hard ascents in Rifle; here is a video of the school teacher's previous best, the 7 p.m. show, 8b+. Photo by David Clifford, from Hugh, 8b in Rifle.
